You can employ Bimmercode to lawmaking the F series vehicles. Pretty simple to use and well worth it if y'all want to actuate things like DVD in movement, and change the welcome lights etc. I apply a Bluetooth dongle and it works a care for.

The cable is easy to find off Amazon or AliExpress. AliExpress is cheap but takes a long time, but it gets hither eventually. OBD port, some CAT6 cable, a resistor and an RJ45 on the other end. No special electronics. Bid or Buy has them sometimes between R250 and R1500 depending on how much of a chancer the seller is :roflol:
I volition swing by a place tomorrow to run into if they have OBD2 connectors, though with a complete, tested cable ex Mainland china for under R200 it is hard to imagine this volition exist a worthwhile exercise.

e-sys is the programme that yous use and ENET is the cable. It is an OBD2 to ethernet cable. You connect it to your laptop'southward network port.
It really depends on what you lot're trying to do. for basic stuff similar mirrors folding at different times, DVD in motion or lighting settings etc, the app and dongle volition work fine. You tin apply this to do even complex retrofits (when you lot're changing hardware as well - eg surround view, lane divergence alarm etc.). Non sure if the apps tin exercise this now.
The vgate reader won't work with eastward-sys. non sure if they will work with bimmercode.
What I am going to try to investigate is how much it costs for the male connector itself (the 'raw' connector without anything attached) to see if it is worthwhile making up a cablevision.
